How Country Draw works

Draw it. Reveal it. Understand it.

A complete country outline drawing game takes less than a minute, but the result can completely change how you remember a map.

  1. 01

    Draw from memory

Start a round, get a random country, and sketch its outline before the 30-second timer reaches zero.

  2. 02

    Reveal the real outline

Press Done whenever you are ready, or let the timer submit the drawing automatically.

  3. 03

    Compare every drift

See your score, average deviation, the reference outline, and the exact places your country drawing went inside or outside.

Readable results

See where your country outline drifted

Country Draw does more than call a sketch right or wrong. It overlays your path with the real border and connects sampled points to show the direction of each mistake.

Overall position and size are normalized. Shape, proportion, rotation, and mirroring still matter.

Score

Your drawing and the reference outline are normalized separately, then their nearest border distances are compared in both directions. The result becomes a deterministic score from 0 to 100 plus an average deviation.

Avg deviation

Average deviation combines the two-way mean and RMS nearest-border gaps after normalization, weighted 40% and 60%, and shown as a percentage. Lower is closer.

Outside the outline / Inside the outline

Black is your path, light gray is the real outline, red lines show points outside the outline, and blue lines show points inside it.

Why draw countries from memory?

Recognizing a map is easy. Rebuilding it is different.

A country draw challenge tests your mental map rather than trivia or illustration skill.

Recall, not recognition

There is no silhouette to trace. You have to generate the country outline from memory before seeing the answer.

Feedback you can understand

The score and error lines make local mistakes visible, so even a wildly wrong result teaches you something.

Play anywhere

Country Draw runs in the browser with mouse, touch, or pen input. No account or download is required to play.

Country Draw FAQ

Questions before you draw

Everything you need to start a Country Draw round and understand the result.

What is Country Draw?
Country Draw is a browser geography drawing game. You get a random country, draw its outline from memory in 30 seconds, then compare your sketch with the real shape.
How do I play Country Draw?
Press Start, draw the named country with your mouse, finger, or pen, and press Done when you are ready. If you keep drawing, the round submits automatically when time runs out.
Do I need an account or download?
No. The current Country Draw game runs directly in your browser, and playing a round or viewing its local result does not require an account or installation.
How is my Country Draw score calculated?
Your drawing and the reference outline are normalized separately, then their nearest border distances are compared in both directions. The result becomes a deterministic score from 0 to 100 plus an average deviation.
Does drawing bigger or elsewhere change the score?
No. Overall position and uniform size are normalized before scoring. Shape proportions, rotation, and mirroring are not normalized, so they still affect the result.
What do the result colors mean?
Black is your path, light gray is the real outline, red lines show points outside the outline, and blue lines show points inside it.
Can I use multiple strokes or fix a mistake?
Yes. You can draw with multiple strokes, use Undo to remove the latest completed stroke, or use Clear to erase the whole drawing.
What happens when time runs out?
The round submits automatically when the 30-second deadline is reached. Even if you press Done as time expires, Country Draw only produces one result for the round.
Can I play Country Draw on mobile?
Yes. The drawing surface supports mouse, touch, and pen input and is designed to prevent the page from scrolling while you draw.
